Krishi Vigyan Kendras are established by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi to accomplish the job of transfer of technology in the field of agriculture for the benefit of farming community in general. The basic objective is to increase the agricultural production in the country and to improve the living standard of people.

Krishi Vigyan Kendra is a district level organization engaged in transfer of latest technologies to the farming community of the district. KVK acts as a bridge between the research organization and farmers that works for solving the location specific problems (issues) of farming community in agriculture and allied fields.

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Lunkaransar has been established in March 31, 2012 under the administrative control of Swami Keshwanand Rajasthan Agricultural University (SKRAU), Bikaner with full financial assistance from Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) through ICAR-ATARI Zone-II. Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Lunkaransar located at Lunkaransar on Bikaner-Sri Ganganagar Highway at a distance of 72.5 K.M. from Bikaner. KVK Lunkaransar is having an operational area of 20 acres, out of which 16.5 acres of land is under cultivation and 3.5 acres of land is under buildings, roads, paths and irrigation channels. Hon’ble Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India on 18th February 2017. The major objectives of KVK is to organize need based and skill oriented training programmes for practicing farmers and farm women by the principles of “Learning by doing” and “Teaching by doing”.

Bikaner is a city in the northwest of the state of Rajasthan in northern India. It is located 330 kilometres northwest of the state capital, Jaipur. Bikaner city is the administrative headquarters of Bikaner District and Bikaner division. Formerly the capital of the princely state of Bikaner, the city was founded by Rao Bika in 1486 and from its small origins it has developed into the fourth largest city in Rajasthan. The Ganges Canal, completed in 1928, and the Indira Gandhi Canal, completed in 1987, facilitated its development.
